You are a social entrepreneur passionate about creating a safer environment for children throughout their educational journey. Through your fundraising the First Fundraising Officer of Defend our Children (DOC), our organization will thrive and increase the impact of equipping schools with Safe Space Desks.
Defend our Children is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization formed in 2019.
Our mission is to equip schools with Safe Space Desks to improve Quality of Life, Health and Safety of Children throughout their educational journey. This includes but is not limited to addressing safety in the event of imminent dangers such as school shootings, unexpected inclement weather, bullying and sexual abuse.
Our resources include a patented Safe Space Desk that is ready for manufacturing, Guidestar 2020 Seal of Transparency, Google Adwords Grant and Google Drive.
Hiring our First Fundraising Officer is major key to the start of case study work, fundraising events and the national awareness campaign.
The ideal candidate will offer the following skills, experiences, and attributes:
15+ years of nonprofit fundraising
Understanding of the social media landscape, including content strategy, distribution, and emerging platforms
Strong financial literacy and experience managing a budget
A persuasive and passionate communicator, with exceptional written and verbal skills
Skilled at doing more with less and attracting resources from others
A proven record of philanthropic engagement or building of trusted and productive partnerships
Proven ability to develop strategic and collaborative working relationships
Responsibilities and Vision
Create, provide vision and direction for the 2021-2025 fundraising plan
Ensure organizational focus by setting clear goals: tactics, milestones, and metrics
Finance & Administration
Create a plan that allows for immediate and long term fundraising
Prepare an annual budget for Board and CEO review
Maintain official records and documents in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
Develop short and long-term program strategies that advance the mission and are consistent with DOC's strategic plan
Implement procedures for the measurement and evaluation fundraising events
Ensure programs are developed through a lens of inclusivity, diversity, equity, and social justice
Organizational & People Management
Manage the day-to-day fundraising operations in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations including personnel, legal, financial, and budgeting functions
Develop and implement effective reporting systems to track membership, financial, and strategic performance for regular review by CEO
Maintain an organizational culture that attracts and motivates staff, board members, volunteers, and stakeholders

This is a remote based position which might involve regional travel. Occasional weekend or evening participation at events is required. DOC is currently located in Kiln, MS.
